Purpose of this document

This is a working document which summarises information about At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd in order to ensure that prospective service users, service purchasers, their friends and family and partner agencies can and are fully informed about the range of services, facilities and care provision available and the manner in which they are delivered.

 

The company has been established and developed based on the Directors’ experiences within the healthcare sector, both as service providers and as service purchasers and is therefore established with an ‘eyes open’ approach to the complexities facing service users, purchasers, their family and friends and other service providers and healthcare professionals. The company’s services are developed to overcome these complexities and to focus on the provision of a high quality and professional service with the needs of individual service users at the heart of everything that we do.

 

The At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd Directors and care team are motivated and committed to providing a level of service and support that far exceeds expectations. Our services are truly service user focused and centred on and tailored to the needs of each individual.  This commitment to users is mirrored by our belief that any business or professional partners that we work with to provide services to users also deserve us, as a care provider and partner,  to be dependable, reliable and communicative in order  to deliver a joint approach to the individual’s needs.

 

INTRODUCTION

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd is a private limited company, registered in England (company registration number 09204812) with its company registered office C/O Harrowells LLP, Moorgate House, Clifton Moorgate, York, YO30 4WY.

 

We offer high quality, dependable and trustworthy “Person Centred” care to individuals aged 18 and above with the objective of enabling them to remain living comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible and practicable.

 

We provide these services to a wide range of service users including those with dementia; physical disabilities; sensory impairment; HIV/Aids; and those who are ill, recovering from illness or who are terminally ill.

 

Our flexible packages and care provision, whether for an occasional visit or more frequently, will be provided in a consistent and appropriate manner by staff who are compassionate, consumer focused and skilled, resulting in a rewarding experience for our users, purchasers and partners.

 

The company is registered with all relevant and statutory bodies including, but not limited to, the Care Quality Commission, the UK Home Care Association Ltd and the Information Commissioners Office.

  • To match the nominated care / support worker as closely as possible with the service user and to respect the need to change the care / support worker in the event of subsequent incompatibility.
  • To undertake a risk assessment of environmental and ergonomic health & safety hazards within the home of each new service user, and to ensure that areas of concern are duly reported to the purchaser/ user. Such risk assessments will take into account the right of the user to take risks.
  • To ensure that all service users  receive written information on the organisation’s policy and procedure for handling complaints, comments and compliments, and how to use them.
  • To expand our company in a manner that reflects local service users ‘needs and is financially responsible.

 

SUMMARY OF SERVICES & CHARGES

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd will support individuals in the community, offering and enabling them the opportunity to live as independently as possible. We will work with service users, helping them to remain independent within the home environment. We provide these services throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire and those areas in the North Riding of Yorkshire that are on the boundaries.  It is our intention to expand this area as enquiries and consumer needs determine.

 

Services are offered irrespective of a service user’s race or ethnic origin, creed, colour, religion, political affiliation, marital status, parenthood, sexual gender, sexual orientation, disabilities or impairments.

 

The sole criterion for accepting a service user is our ability to provide for the assessed care needs.

SERVICES:

 

Services we provide include:

 

Personal Care - We can provide assistance with personal care tasks such as:

  • Washing
  • Shaving (not wet shaving)
  • Oral care
  • Dressing
  • Toileting
  • Continence care
  • Feeding
  • Assistance with medication
  • Assistance getting in/out of bed

 

Other services – We can provide assistance with the following:

 

  • Making or changing your bed
  • Shopping
  • Paying service/utility bills
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Preparing meals, feeding and advising about healthy eating
  • Cleaning and vacuuming
  • Social activities and outings
  • Respite care and companionship
  • Dementia care and support

 

Our services are available 24‐hours a day, 365‐days a year. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm inclusive.

 

The Registered Manager is available during office hours and a duty manager is on call for staff and service users at all times outside of normal office hours.

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd does not offer or provide nursing care.  It employs staff who are trained to deliver healthcare tasks and will ensure that all support workers are skilled to the appropriate levels for any task assessed as needed in the consumers care plan. We will work with any user requiring nursing care in order to assist with the assessment of their needs and the identification of the most suitable options for them.

 

CHARGES:

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd fees and charges for home care services will vary according to where the service user lives and who is funding the care. There are three categories of service user fees:

 

  • Those funded in whole or part by the local County Council or Unitary Authority or Primary Care Trust;
  • Those funded wholly by the individual service users (private clients);
  • Those who qualify for direct payments under individual payments arrangements with their local authority.

 

These scheduled fees and charges change annually to reflect changes in the cost of service provision, and the contract rates fixed by commissioning authorities. A copy of the current scale of charges will be available upon request.

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd is currently exempt from VAT but there is an intention that it will voluntarily register for VAT in due course.

 

STAFFING:

 

We recognise that, for consumers, the most important people in our organisation are the care workers with whom they will have regular contact. Our staff will play a vital role in the service user’s welfare. To ensure that the service user’s needs are met effectively we will:

 

  • Employ staff who are skilled and/or experienced in all areas of personal care or ensure new staff will be fully trained as appropriate for quality levels of care.
  • Provide at all times an appropriate number of staff to ensure that contracts can be met.
  • Observe recruitment policies and practices, which both respect equal opportunities and protect the service user’s safety and welfare.
  • Contract our staff to a range of training on an ongoing basis and encourage career advancement within the company.  In line with the company’s philosophy of ‘Life Long Learning’.
  • Work with other agencies, health professionals and bodies to ensure that service users’ needs and any changes to those needs are met in a timely manner.

 

We take great care in recruiting, training and supervising our staff to ensure they possess a range of experience and qualifications in the care of all service user within our scope of care provision. The range of qualifications and training of the staff by At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd include:

 

  • Structured Induction training encompassing the Common Induction Standards
  • Manual handling health & safety
  • National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care (Adult),
  • A wide range of mandatory and voluntary care training ‐ ranging from basic skills through to specialist medical topics including but not limited to:
    • Person Centred Care
    • Medication
    • Health and Safety
    • Food hygiene
    • Dementia Awareness

 

MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION:

 

We know that the leadership of the agency is critical to all its operations. To provide a leadership of the quality required, we do the following:

 

  • Always engage as registered manager a person who is qualified, competent and experienced for the task.
  • Aim for management approach, which creates an open, positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Install and operate effective quality assurance and quality monitoring systems.
  • Conduct consumer and staff surveys regularly (at least annually) or as required to ensure Best Practice standards are maintained and exceeded.
  • Work to accounting and financial procedures, which safeguard service user’s interests and company viability.
  • Supervise and appraise all staff and voluntary workers regularly and carefully.
  • Securely keep and maintain up‐to‐date and accurate records on all aspects of the agency and consumers.
  • Ensure that health, safety and welfare of consumers and staff are promoted and protected.
  • Ensure vital networks are built and extended to facilitate effective professional working relationships thus enabling continuity of care for consumers.

 

Our management and supervisory team comprise of individuals with, or working towards, the following qualifications and standards:

 

  • NVQ Assessor (D32/33, A2 and A1)
  • NVQ Learning and Development Awards
  • IOSH (institution of occupational safety and health)
  • Advanced level Apprenticeship in Management level 3 and above

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd will develop and maintain a complete matrix of all qualifications, credentials and experience for each staff member. Regular supervision, career planning and Personal Development interviews will be conducted with each staff member six monthly or more often as required or identified.  From these interviews future planning will be determined to ensure that all staff exceed the minimum training levels, can advance within the company structure and experience personal and performance fulfilment.  This optimises staff satisfaction and retention thus ensuring quality and continuity of care for our service users.

  • Supervise and appraise all staff and voluntary workers regularly and carefully.

Our management and supervisory team comprise of individuals with, or working towards, the following qualifications and standards:

 

  • NVQ Assessor (D32/33, A2 and A1)
  • NVQ Learning and Development Awards
  • IOSH (institution of occupational safety and health)
  • Advanced level Apprenticeship in Management level 3 and above

 

At Home – Specialists in Care Ltd will develop and maintain a complete matrix of all qualifications, credentials and experience for each staff member. Regular supervision, career planning and Personal Development interviews will be conducted with each staff member six monthly or more often as required or identified.  From these interviews future planning will be determined to ensure that all staff exceed the minimum training levels, can advance within the company structure and experience personal and performance fulfilment.  This optimises staff satisfaction and retention thus ensuring quality and continuity of care for our service users.

Our complaints processes are in line with all Best Practice models; with the emphasis on open and trusting relationships between all; we will ensure that any issues are dealt with promptly (if not anticipated in advance and adjustments are made before any issues arise).  All complainants will be fully advised and supported to use this process should the need arise.

 

Equally, the same goes for compliments and comments.  As these are a vital part of our growth through interpersonal feedback, assessment, workplace observations and service recognition processes.

 

It is only by being open to all comments that any service can adjust, adapt and address the constantly changing care needs of consumers and business development.
